Prayer from Ecclesiastes 1:1-2

“The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.” -Ecclesiastes 1:1-2, ESV

Here are some ways to pray through the verses from Pastor Clint’s sermon today:

Verse 1:

  • Thank You for David, Solomon and the Book of Ecclesiastes
  • Thank You for Your wisdom and for revealing it to us
  • Thank You for being over every king and human government
  • Thank You that Your Word is powerful in my life
  • Help me watch my words

Verse 2:

  • Forgive me for putting too much importance on things of this world that are fleeting and temporary
  • Help me have proper perspective so I can spend my time and resources on things that are eternal
  • Forgive me for the time, money and talents I’ve wanted on vain things
  • Convict me today when I get lost in things that are vanity
  • Give me perspective beyond my years and humility to learn from others
  • Enable me to trust You when life is perplexing
  • Teach me to number my days and let me know how fleeing my life is
  • Teach me to rely on You alone
  • Enable me to do the ordinary, mundane, necessary things of life for Your glory and with a joyful attitude
  • Remind me in the mundane to look to You and to eternity
