Prayer from Romans 15:8-13

^“8 For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, ⁹ and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,’Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name.’ ¹⁰ And again it is said,’Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.’ ¹¹ And again,’Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and let all the peoples extol him.’¹² And again Isaiah says,’The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the Gentiles; in him will the Gentiles hope.’¹³ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” -Romans 15:8-13, ESV

Verse 8:

• Thank You for Christ’s servant attitude, that He took on flesh to fulfill the Law and promises (Philippians 2:1-11)
• Thank You for Your truthfulness and trustworthiness, that You cannot lie
• Help me submit my life to your truth
• Thank You for keeping Your promises in the Old Testament so that I can trust You to keep all Your promises

Verses 9-11:

• Thank You for your mercy to me, Your kindness when I deserve punishment
• Give me opportunities this week to glorify You among my coworkers, neighbors and family
• Help me discipline my thoughts so that I rejoice and praise You instead of focusing on negative things (Philippians 4:8)
• Make me a joyful, enthusiastic worshiper daily even when I’m burdened

Verses 12-13:

• Thank You for giving me hope, joy and peace
• Fill me with the Holy Spirit’s power so that my hope is abounding
• Purify my hope so that it’s focused on Your eternal promises and character and not smaller, unsure outcomes
